34 Days To Purdue Football: Max Charlot

Today's player was a nice surprise as a JuCo transfer last season. Max Charlot saw a lot of time as a nickel back and third safety with Albert Evans and Logan Link. Now he is part of one of the most experienced secondaries in the Big Ten.

Maz Charlot - Jr.

Hometown: Corona, CA (Corona Santiago HS)

Safety

6', 190 pounds

2011 Projection: Contributor

Many JuCo players make an impact int heir second season, but Charlot had a respectable rookie year in 2010. He played in all 12 games, started four, and made 12 tackles with an interception. His pick came against Minnesota, and he could be the kind of ball-hawking safety in nickel packages we need.

Charlot is the rare JuCo transfer, like Jaycen Taylor, that came here with three years of eligibility instead of two. He went to the same high school and junior college as the recently departed Dwight McLean, who was a two year starter for us at safety. Academically I am not sure why he went to a Junior College. He had a 3.1 GPA and an astounding 1470 on his SAT's.That link includes some high school highlights of him as well. More highlights can be found here.
