Bruce Gaston and Kawann Short are two solid starting defensive tackles, but you always need backups. one of them, Brandon Taylor, grew up int he shadow of an NFL stadium,s o he should be fine. Taylor is a graduate of Miami-Dade's Dr. Krop High School, which I have passed several times on the way to Joe Robbie/Pro Player/Dolphin(s)/LandShark/SunLife Stadium.
Brandon Taylor - So. (RS)
Hometown: Aventura, FL (Dr. Krop HS)
Defensive Tackle
6'1", 280 pounds
2011 projection: Reserve at Defensive Tackle
Taylor made his debut last season by appearing in 10 games and notching four tackles. One tackle was a sack, however, so he returns as a player with experience at getting into the backfield. I suppose it is possible we could line him up on the outside at times, but he is more likely an interior player.
Taylor is like many of our recruits in that he is a smart kid. He is a movement and sports science major that was a member of National Honor Society in high school. He is also the son of the legendary Lawrence Taylor. Yes, THAT Lawrence Taylor of New York Giants fame. he certainly has the genes to be a beast of a player.
Brandon seems like a very good kid who knows that academics are important. He was named a defensive line MVP of an underclassman combine back in 2007. His senior season at Dr. Krop was a fantastic one as he notched 118 tackles, 14 sacks, five forced fumbles, and two recoveries. He was selected to play in the Nike South Florida All-Star Game with Gary Bush and Kevin Pamphile.
