Welcome to the Fold: Thomas Meadows

As fun as it is to watch Carson Wiggs boom 60-yard field goals like it's easy, this will be the last year that the ICBM will be on campus. Jonathan Linkenheimer is already waiting in the wings, but he succumbed to the dreaded ACL demon last year before the season even started. It remains to be seen if he will be Carson's replacement, but we got some insurance just in case.

Thomas Meadows, a 6' 170 kicker from Virginia became the third 2012 football commitment. He boasts a strong academic record (his Rivals profile lists him with a 4.36 GPA and a 1910 SAT). He comes from Goochland County High School in Virginia. He was receiving solid interest from Virginia Tech, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, and Florida State (where he was sure to go wide right in big situations).

Meadows is one of the top-rated kickers in the 2012 class, much like Wiggs when he committed. He is also a decent punter, which is nice insurance in case Cody Webster runs into some trouble. Webster is entering his second year of eligibility too, leaving him just two to go once Meadows arrives on campus. The kid has range from 60 yards, too.
