78 Days To Purdue Football: Trevor Foy

Today's player is one that I am surprised hasn't done more at Purdue. He is one of the biggest players on the roster at 6'7", but he can't seem to crack the two-deeps anywhere. He was one of Danny hope's first recruits and many expected him to become a fixture on the offensive line, but it has yet to happen.

Trevor Foy - So.. (RS)

Hometown: Louisville, KY (St. Xavier HS)

Tackle

6'7, 284 pounds

2011 Projection:Offensive line reserve

Trevor originally came to Purdue as a defensive end before switching over to offensive tackle. His first training camp in 2009 went very well, but he did not play as he redshirted. He was a reserve last year, but Jack DeBoef seems to have passed him in terms of being a solid reserve. DeBoef redshirted last season as a true freshman and has been mentioned as a potential key reserve and maybe starter. Foy hasn't had that luck. He played in six games last year and managed to notch a tackle, either on special teams or after a turnover.

He still has three years left to make an impression, including this fall where he could surprise. At the very least he has some experience and could fill in if necessary. Even though he was primarily a defensive player for one of the better schools in Kentucky coach Hope saw that Foy was a versatile talent that could contribute more on the offensive side. He was a winner in high school, playing for nationally ranked St. Xavier in Kentucky. That makes it even better that we lured him away from the hometown Cardinals. According to a lacrosse forum I found he was also a lacrosse player in high school, making him an absolute beast with his size on the field.
