Derek Willis Closes Out Class of 2013

There was no question Painter wanted to beef up the front court with his final scholarship in the class of 2013, and that's exactly what he did.

With Bullitt East High School sophomore power forward Derek Willis's (6'9/185 lbs) recent commitment to Purdue, Painter has successfully closed the final opening for the class of 2013.

Willis, who averaged 11.5 points and 8.5 rebounds a game, 50.9% FG, completes a well rounded class that will surely draw comparison to the glorious class of 2007.

According to area journalist Jody Demling, Willis is one of the most promising prospects in the state of Kentucky. Plucking a prospect out of Louisville and Kentucky's back yard is an accomplishment that should not be overlooked.  He was being recruiting by Kentucky, Lousiville, and Indiana just to name a few.

We'll have more on Willis and the implications of his commitment later. But in the meantime, I'm going to throw back a few cold beverages
to celebrate.
