13 Days to Purdue Football: Antavian Edison

Now we're starting to get into the player that should have a major impact on the 2010 season. Antavian Edison was the on receiver that did not redshirt from last year's group of Florida speed guys, but he didn't have a huge impact, either. That should change in 13 days.

Antavian Edison - So.

Hometown: Ft. Myers, FL (Dunbar HS)

Wide Receiver

5'11", 175 pounds

2010 Projection: contributor at wide receiver, punt returner

Antavian has made the most of his one catch in a Purdue uniform. In last season's opener against Toledo he caught a 15-yard touchdown pass. He also had three yards rushing, but did nothing else in four more games. In 2010 it is hoped that he, O.J. Ross, and Gary Bush provide a speed element to the size of Keith Smith, Justin Siller, and Cortez Smith. I, for one, am very excited.

Speed is what Edison had in high school. He was the Lee County Offensive Player of the year 14 total touchdowns between rushing, receiving, kickoff, and punt returns. He also generated over 1,600 all-purpose yards. In track, he ran a 10.7 100 meters while also playing baseball. The Ft. Myers News-press is excited to see what Antavian can dot his season. Hopefully Antavian's excitement from last season carries over to multiple touchdowns in this year's debut. He is projected to return punts and possibly kickoffs, while a fantasy website has a lofty projection of him becoming our own Percy Harvin. I'll take that.
