I was surprised at first to see today's featured player on the two deeps, but given our lack of depth in the current secondary I guess it isn't much of a surprise. When players like Normando Harris, E.J. Johnson, and Ricardo Allen get to campus this player may go off the list, but then again, he's played well enough that he might not.
Logan Link - Jr.
Hometown: West Liberty, OH (West Liberty-Salem HS)
Safety
6'1", 204 pounds
2010 Projection: Reserve at defensive back
Link is a player that has worked hard enough to earn his way into the discussion for one of the two open safety spots. Albert Evans seems to have the first one nailed down, but the fact that Link is in the discussion with Chris Quinn, Ishmael Aristide, and the incoming freshmen is a testament to his character. Link walked on to the team in 2007 and has yet to officially play in a game, but he won the hard-hitter award for the defense in the spring this year.
In high school Link was an Ohio All-State selection amassing 170 tackles as his team's defensive MVP. He also played baseball and basketball, making him a kid that is simply a pure athlete. He is one of our biggest defensive backs at 6'1" 204, so that is going in his favor. He clearly is a tackling machine from his high school days too. At the very least he may be ready to compete on special teams where tackling was an issue.
