The next player to be profiled is one that has not done a whole lot after three years in the program. He came to Purdue as a 3-star recruit in 2007, but he only appeared in one game as a reserve. It remains to be seen what kind of effect he will have this year.
James Shepherd - Jr.
Hometown: Crofton, KY (Christian County)
Offensive Guard
6'5", 318 pounds
2010 Projection: Offensive line reserve
I could barely even find a picture for him aside from PurdueSports.com
Shepherd seems to have fallen off the pace in terms of earning a starting job by his senior year. Ken Plue and Dennis Kelly will start, while Rck Schmeig, Trevor Foy, Austen Moret, Peters Drey, Colton McKey, Ryan Prater, Andrew Brewer, and Justin Pierce have been mentioned as top candidates for the other three spots. Shepherd has had very little said about him since coming to Purdue three years ago. He appeared as a reserve against Michigan in 2008 for his only action.
James is majoring in building construction management technology and was a member of National Honor Society in high school. Back in 2007 he did an interview for a home town blog talking about his first year at Purdue. That's really all I have on a player that has almost disappeared from the depth chart.
