Contrary to what I said last week, Midwestern State was not the school that Matt Painter played for in Blue Chips. As you can see below, that school is Coast.
Instead, Midwestern State is a Division II school in Wichita Falls, Kansas. this is not a game we should overlook and assume it is an automatic win without even trying. The Mustangs played Baylor tough last week, losing 68-59. MSU actually led by one with 8:37 left before falling short. Baylor is a top 20 team in both preseason polls, but they were without LaceDarius Dunn.
MSU has four former Division I players in David Terrell (Morehead State), Clinton Houston (San Diego), Kevin Loyd (Grambling) and Michael Loyd (BYU). this is an experienced group with only two players that aren't juniors and seniors.
Once again, consider this the OpenThread for the evening since the game is only web streamed. The Boilermaker Heroes are in attendance and will provide a postgame wrap. Here is what I want to see from the game:
- Stay Healthy - Goes without saying.
- See What Travis Carroll and Sandi Marcius can do - The depth they provide will dictate the course of the season.
- Let Patrick Bade shoot - he allegedly has a touch, so if he is going to be Hummel-lite, let him shoot a three or two.
- Turn JaJuan Johnson and E'Twaun Moore loose - Why not have a three minute stretch where we let them dominate?
