Travis has been working hard to get the new Hammer and Rails, along with other editors at the other SB Nation sites, up and running this morning. Thanks to the popularity of the volleyball team within the last couple of seasons, the volleyball coverage has been able to expand from one or two fan shots and post a season, to weekly updates, to now having more coverage than the football and basketball teams at times.
It is amazing to see how much growth the coverage of volleyball has had here at Hammer and Rails, and I did not do it by myself. I have to first thank T-Mill for even trusting an illiterate science major like me to start posting on his site last year, along with the help with my friends, who I usually go to volleyball games with and helped edit and criticize my first posts on H&R. Of course, my biggest thanks now goes to James Collins, who has been at my side helping me with coverage this year starting this summer with player previews.
But of course, I have to thank you, the readers, players, and coaches, who continue to put up with my writing the last 2 seasons. Without your support and criticism, I would have stopped writing and focused on perfecting my tweeting skills. I know I haven't said the brightest things the last 2 seasons, along with a few posts that some of you disagree with, but that's okay, I'd rather have disagreement than a fake compliment. I'd also like to specifically thank Coach Shondell, who has been welcoming of the coverage James and I have provided. As I have said before, Coach Shondell is easily the classiest man at Purdue, if you ever get the chance to meet with him, he will be welcoming to you and thank you for any support you show towards Purdue and the amazing Volleyball program he has structured.
James and I are still figuring out the new United set up along with our senior years at Purdue. We hope that the new format (and our amazing writing) will keep our readers coming back for more, as well as reach new readers throughout the remainder of the season.
