For the last 3 years, I have always thought that each game between IU and Purdue was a battle for the Monon Spike. Turns out, I was wrong.
Since the trophy was first presented in 1981, it is only played for at one of the two annual games between Purdue and IU, usually the 2nd of the games between the schools. This year, it will be played for in West Lafayette on November 23rd (the day before Thanksgiving).
It would have helped if I actually read the trophy rivalries page on the Purdue Athletics website. I'm rather embarrassed that I messed this up considering I've followed this team closely since I was a freshman. I am owning up to my mistake and would like to apologize to the teams (both Purdue and IU), fans, and readers. I will try my best to avoid these mistakes in the future. If I ever make a mistake, please let me know and I will fix it.
