Pardon me while I stand and give a rousing, lengthy ovation for our favorite Boilermaker.

New Rankings Out

Purdue Drops to #22. I wanted to be upset about how far we fell given the other teams that lost recently. And then I remembered that we only scored 14 points in the first half.

Purdue Lands 2013 Target Bryson Scott

6

Purdue landed its first target in the class of 2013, point guard Bryson Scott (Fort Wayne Northrop). Scott averaged 18 points and nearly 5 rebounds as a freshman and is widely believed to be one of the top prospects in the state. ESPN's analysis of Scott (from April): He is a good athlete and always plays extremely hard. He is always in attack mode. Despite his size, he plays big. He is a good slasher and is not afraid to go in amongst the trees in the paint. He is a streaky shooter with range to 20 feet. He is a solid defender who takes pride in stopping his opponents. He is a good rebounder for his size who uses great effort to grab the ball in a crowd. Like his brother he is a max effort player who is good now and has a solid upside. We'll have more on Scott and the impact it has on other recruits later.

Welcome to the Fold: Doug Gentry

Looks like a very good running back pickup for us. He had three high school seasons of 1,500 or more rushing.

Hardwick going back to Indy, but not as a solo

I went to Purdue at the same time as Hardwick, been a fan of the Chargers my whole life and followed his career there. I had never heard this story and I thought some of you may not as well.

ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!

3rd paragraph.... Is there no end. Yes.... WE KNOW!!!

Purdue Women pull out of games in Mexico due to illness

1

A member of the Purdue Women's team has been hospitalized with meningitis and the team is returning to West Lafayette as a precaution. Thoughts and prayers for the speedy recovery of the Boilermaker, whose name hasn't been released.

AP Idiot of the Week: Jerry Tipton

12

It takes only a quick glance at the AP Top-25 breakdown of voters to notice something off for week 3. Apparently Purdue's 55 point win against Alcorn St. and 15 point victory against Oakland was enough to convince Lexington Herald journalist Jerry Lipton to drop Purdue from #19 to unranked. Since he's heroically disabled the comments on his lame blog, you can let me know when you think directly: jtipton@herald-leader.com.
