B1G Basketball Recruits 2003-2015

So I was bored today and created an easy-to-sort Excel workbook containing all B1G basketball recruits that were rated by at least one recruiting service since 2003.

I can sort all of the recruits by class, name, school, position, hometown, state, star ranking, grade, national rank, draft pick, and draft year. The rankings, grades, and national ranks are all averages of all major recruit ranking services (Scout, Rivals, 247, ESPN.)

For example, I can filter out all of the players in the conference (since the class of 2003) that were drafted in the NBA, sorted by grade:

b1g-recruits

This allows us to easily see which draft picks were under/over-rated coming into college. You can see that Victor Oladipo (3* - 0.9086), Trey Burke (4* - 0.9578), and Nik Stauskas (4* - 0.9688) were definitely under-rated, as they are at the bottom of the list and were lottery picks when drafted. Glenn Robinson III and Deshaun Thomas were probably a bit over-rated, considering they stand alone in being drafted in the second round in the top 15 drafted B1G players.

Another example, we can filter out all of the 5-star recruits since 2003, and see which ones were busts and which ones panned out:

We can see that only four B1G 5-star recruits since 2003 have ended up not getting drafted (excluding active players). Brian Butch, William Buford, Delvon Roe and Dion Harris were all graded 0.99+ and none were drafted. Roe's knee gave up on him and he retired before his senior season, so he gets a pass.

Are there any comparisons that you guys would like to see? I plan on releasing the workbook as a download as soon as I polish it up a bit, and possibly add in a few more statistical categories.
