Purdue has some interesting weapons offensively if the blocking can come together. There are some promising running backs and receivers, three talented quarterbacks, and some experienced tight ends. This is before some more weapons get on campus this fall. One interesting weapon is a player that redshirted last fall and is finally coming available.
Myles Norwood -Fr. (RS)
Arlington, Texas (Grace Prep HS)
6', 185 pounds
2014 Projection: reserve at wide receiver
Purdue has had some very effective slot receivers like Dorien Bryant and Desmond Tardy. Both were smaller, fast guys that excelled in the underneath routes. That might be the role Norwood finds himself in, but he is currently buried on the depth chart by several other receivers. The former three-star recruit has DeAngelo Yancey, Cameron Posey, Danny Anthrop, Dan Monteroso, Shane Mikesky, and B.J. Knauf ahead of him as the top returning receivers.
Norwood can still have an impact though. As a junior in high school he had 47 catches for 1,010 yards and 16 touchdowns. He is definitely a speedy guy, and that speed will always give someone a chance. He already has speedy guys in front of him too, so it remains to be seen how big of an impact he has.
You do have to give it up for a guy whose Twitter handle is @TexasToast82.
