I’m sure there will be those who disagree with me here, but I really think Jay should be in the starting lineup for senior night. I mentioned this on another post, but wanted to bring it to the forefront. Let him be announced as a starter and let him stand with his teammates at center court in Mackey one last time. If we win the tip, we can call a 30 second time out and let him get a standing ovation as he walks off the court. If we lose the tip, just have him grab the NW guy standing next to him for a foul and again, let him get his standing ovation as he is subbed out. Everybody always likes to use the phrase "this transcends sports" well I think our actions need to show that as well. We always like to say and think that Purdue is one of the best institutions in the world, so let’s act like it. That moment for him is far, far more important than any time out or team foul. As Charles mentioned in the other post, let our lasting memory of Jay be him walking off the court with his arms raised rather than it being him collapsing on the court. Really this should extend to Carter as well. He is the one guy I have felt gave his everything every time he was on the court, he deserves some appreciation for it. He will always be remembered for his game against IU and he deserves a proper good bye.
I strongly doubt this happens (and maybe there are regulations that won't allow it to happen), but I’ll still be very disappointed if it doesn’t.
