Just read this article on Austin Appleby, and you gotta love the kid:
Did you ever consider transferring?
Before the second syllable of "transferring" was even muttered, the Purdue sophomore quarterback jumped into his response. It was filled with emotion and great conviction.
"This is where I want to be," Appleby said in a strong tone. "This is the school that I chose. This is the school I fell in love with. I want to help this team win a championship."
Now THIS is loyalty. THIS is conviction. THIS is character. Everything is going against him and he has thousands of reasons to leave and I can't blame him, but he chooses to stick through it. Now compared to the many other kids in his generation (sorry, RJ comes to mind) who just run away from adversity instead of keep fighting, keep listening to the coaches, and keep striving to be the best player you can be while never losing faith. Obviously I also want Etling to keep improving, but reading this, I just can't help but wish Appleby can pull it off one day and gets his well deserved opportunity.
