Ok, first of all....I loved the effort tonight. Purdue played well (aside from free throws) and fought hard all game long. I will give credit to Ronnie Johnson. He brought his A game tonight and was very efficient. I also will give credit to the fast breaks. I did not see one bad decision on fast breaks this game and I think the players are finally getting the fact that you can't force it and you have to pass off when given the chance. Hammons had a great game tonight. I hope he brings that every night. Where has Carter been all season? I love it. Keep hitting those threes. The offense finally figured out the zone defense as well. Great job guys. Now for the bad parts. Free throws. Horrible. Absolutely horrible. Terone Johnson had no business being in the game at the end. 7 missed free throws (yes, I am counting the lane violation). I don't care if he is a Senior. If you cannot make a free throw then you have no business being in the game during the crucial last minutes. I will attribute that to coaching. Painter should have benched him. I also agree with the announcers that Purdue should have fouled when they had one to give at the end of regulation. Again, comes down to coaching. Finally, why did Painter wait so long to give Hammons a rest? It was obvious he was gassed. He should have given him a minute or two rest in the second OT at the very least. Might have made the difference in that period. I will give Painter some credit for finally fixing the fast breaks and also the offense against a zone defense. But, he also made some questionable decisions.
