The Perfect Solution to Purdue Football Became Obvious Today

Here's the perfect storm solution

I saw that Michigan offered Harbaugh $8M/year which means he would make $1M more that Saban. Saban will demand at least $9M which puts him on the market.

So we don't offer his $9M, we offer $12M/year with one caveat. Saban has to purchase any unsold seats. So let's say the average ticket price would be $50/game. This year we had about 30,000 unsold seats per game so filling the stadium would add $1.5M/game so for 7 games we have an additional $10.5M just in tickets. See how easy it is, we pay Hazell $2M per year and get an attendance of 30,000, pay Saban $12M and have 60,000 sold tickets, we actually come out $500k ahead.

And you know Saban will sell those tickets one way or another so that he doesn't have to buy them. So he wins by making 50% more than Harbaugh.

But when you add in all the extras in concessions, parking, memorabilia, hotels, restaurants etc both Purdue and West Lafayette come out ahead.

Ok, you ask why would Saban come to Purdue, lots of reasons

1. He will make $12M per year - why would he turn that down

2. He's already accomplished everything at Alabama - his statue is already up - anything less that a national championship is considered a poor season.

3. If he stays at Alabama, who cares, if he comes to Purdue and fills the stadium and brings in all those 5 stars he will be on ESPN every day, surely Game Day will be at Purdue at least once a year.

Let's face it Michigan gains little from paying Harbaugh so much except more victories since the stadium is close to being a sellout anyway. But Saban will bring big money to Purdue, national spotlight, we would have to put up lights because Saban and ESPN will not allow us to play at noon.

It would clearly give Saban the opportunity for one last challenge and we know he loves challenges.
