23 Days To Purdue Football: Keyante Green

Keyante Green could be an impact freshman in a few weeks.

Today's player is one of the incoming freshmen that I am most excited to see play. Through four days of fall camp he has been quiet, but he was the highest rated player in Darrell Hazell's first recruiting class.

Running Back

2013: Projection: Contributor at running back

Keyante Green was rated by ESPN as one of the top 300 players in the nation. Only he and Danny Etling carried that distinction in Purdue's 2013 class. He comes from one of the top small-school program's in Georgia where he rushed for nearly 6,000 yards in his career. In 2012 he had 1,272 yards and 28 touchdowns as his team won a state championship with a 13-1 overall record.

We can think of him as the Danny Anthrop of Georgia. Both players dominated for four years for a small, private school team that had a tone of success. Now Green comes to Purdue, where he hopes to get carries after Brandon Cottom and Akeem Hunt. For purposes of depth a third back needs to develop, be it Randy Gregory, Dalyn Dawkins, Keith Byars II, or David Yancey.
