I live in Chicago and go to all the home games but I've decided to make the 4 1/2 - 5 hour trip the Cincinnati for the Boilers season opener. After roughly 36-37 years of watching Purdue Sports, this may be the most excited I have been about an upcoming season. I know this years schedule doesn't look appealing on paper for our team, especially with a new head coach, but I want to be able to say I was there. I was there at the beginning of a legendary era of Purdue Football. From what I've seen from Coach Hazell and his staff over the last 7 months, I truly believe this is the beginning of something great. Beyond most everyone's expectations. I've watched this man come in and flip the mindset of our team, fans and alumni without even coaching a single game. Which leads me to believe he will continue to bring in four and sometimes five star recruits with his commitment to excellence on and off the field. I believe Coach Hazell is what we as Purdue Football fans have always hoped for. I believe our wishes have been granted. As a Cubs, Purdue, Colts (80's and early 90's Colts) and Pacers fan, I'm typically not optimistic. But something has changed and it certainly wasn't me. Make the trip to Cincinnati and be a part of the beginning of something special. See you there!
