With 40 days (technically 39 by the time this posts...) until kickoff, today we have our first double feature.
Collin Link - Jr. (RS)
West Liberty, OH (West Liberty-Salem)
6'1", 210 pounds
Linebacker
2013 Projection: Reserve at Linebacker
If the name Link sounds familiar, Collin is the younger brother of former safety Logan Link, who is now in his second year as a graduate assistant with the team. Collin was a four year letter winner in basketball and football, while picking up two in baseball. He was also his team's defensive MVP during his junior and senior years of high school football, earning second team all-Ohio as a senior in 2009. Link walked onto the team in 2010 and is majoring in engineering.
Link did play sparingly on Special teams in 2012.
Kendrick Adams - Jr.
Lilburn, GA (West Liberty-Salem)
6'0", 260 pounds
Fullback
2013 Projection: Backup at Fullback
Adams came to the Boilermakers in 2012 after a one-year stint at Taylor University, where he played both sides of the ball, on both lines. After starting as a freshman on the offensive line at NAIA Taylor (while also recording six tackles on the defensive side), Adams transferred to Purdue.
Adams has bounced around from position to position at Purdue and appears to have landed at fullback. Too short at 6'0" for a Big Ten line, the coaching staff believes they've got a sixth lineman on the field when Adams lines up in the backfield. Although Kurt Freytag figures to get most of the time at fullback, don't be surprised to see Adams make appearances on short yardage packages.
