The biggest news around college football this offseason broke tonight when it was announced that Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson was no longer enrolled at Notre Dame:
"Everett is not enrolled at the university. Federal law and our own polices preclude us from discussing specifics," spokesman Dennis Brown said in an email.
This is shocking news, as he quarterbacked ND to an undefeated regular season and returned as one of a few players rightfully on the short list for the Heisman this coming season. As we have seen, however, at Notre Dame you can possibly commit a sexual assault or be responsible for negligent homicide and not face any actual consequences, so let the speculation begin on what Golson did.
This is huge for Purdue, as now Tommy Rees returns as the only quarterback with extensive experience for the Irish. Gunner Kiel, who is so awesome he doesn't actually have to play, left Notre Dame to go to Cincinnati before he eventually leaves Cincy for Miami of Ohio, Utah, the Toronto Argonauts, and The University of Tokyo. The rest are Andrew Hendrix and Malik Zaire.
The night game against the Irish just got a lot more winnable.
