The 2014 Purdue football schedule is now complete as the Big Ten has released the full slate of games for the first year that Rutgers and Maryland are in the conference. As a refresher, here are your four non-conference games:
Aug. 30 Western Michigan
Sept. 6 Central Michigan
Sept. 13 at Notre Dame
Sept. 20 Southern Illinois
Now, onto the Big Ten slate:
Sept. 27 Iowa - counting this coming season the Hawkeyes will make consecutive trips to Ross-Ade. That's what you get, OMHR!
Oct. 4 at Illinois - The battle for the Cannon could mean a 2-0 start in league play with both Iowa and Illinois struggling for now. Will Tim Beckman still be there by then?
Oct. 11 Michigan State - Purdue's other opponent from the East is the Spartans. It could have been much worse, but could have been better.
Oct. 18 at Minnesota - The Golden Gophers get the game after by 35th birthday.
Oct. 25 BYE - Perfect, right in the middle.
Nov. 1 at Nebraska - The first ever trip to Lincoln for Purdue is now likely my 2014 road trip game.
Nov. 8 Wisconsin - The Badgers present a tough back-to-back.
Nov. 15 BYE - A second bye this late is nice.
Nov. 22 Northwestern - Welcome back to the schedule, Wildcats
Nov. 29 at Indiana - In a stunning move Purdue will go to Bloomington for consecutive Bucket games. The teams have alternated every year since 1908 and have never played consecutive years in Bloomington. The last time West Lafayette went longer than 2 years between Bucket games was 1918 and 1919 when there was a gap in the series.
This would be an interesting year to see if IU wanted to host the Bucket Game in Lucas Oil. I think it needs to happen at least once.
