With Notre Dame's return to the National Championship game it is not shocking that their few non-NBC games are prime opportunities for other networks to get a prime time game for the Fighting Irish. As usually happens every other year, Purdue is the beneficiary.
The Purdue-Notre Dame game on September 14th will kick off at 8pm, just as the 2011, 2009, and 2005 games in West Lafayette. The game will be carried on ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2 and the exact network will be decided at a later date.
This was the only game of the six announced by the Big Ten today as prime time games early on. It will be the second straight Big Ten-Notre Dame game as Michigan-Notre Dame a week before is also at 8pm. Ohio State-Wisconsin will be an 8pm game on September 28. Wisconsin-Northwestern a week later is also an 8pm game. Penn State-Michigan and Ohio State-Penn State were the other two games announced in prime time.
No other game times have been announced, but Purdue at Cincinnati on August 31 could be a night game as well since ESPN holds the Big East (or whatever the hell they're called now) rights. All other games can be on Big Ten Network, with Northern Illinois-Purdue possibly being a later kickoff given their BCS season last year.
