The Borden Braves have won class A, while the Triton Trojans have found themselves in the cruelly familiar runner-up spot. Triton won the Class A title in 2008, but was runner-up in 2009 and 2011 before this year as well. Borden (24-3) had the lead throughout and hit a number of clutch three-pointers down the stretch to win 55-50.
Triton was able to get as close as two points, but Jalen McCoy hit two clutch three-pointers and both Josh Vollstedt and Billy Kirchgessner added huge 4th quarter triples. Clay Yeo, who will play next season for the Valparaiso Crusaders, did everything he could to get Triton back in it. He finished with 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks, but had a critical turnover with about two minutes left and Triton down three.
Borden was led by McCoy, who finished with 15 points. Michael Lynch, who also won the Trester Award for Mental Attitude had 13 points and Cody Bachman had 10. Bachman hit 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch to clinch it.
