More Lawson

From the J&C. Doesn't sound like he has a bad attitude or is considering transferring or that Painter is benching him because he's not trying hard.

Mystery man

Jacob Lawson, Purdue’s jumping-jack, 6-foot-8 sophomore forward, has been one of many Boilermakers struggling with inconsistency.

Lawson has started 10 times and has played in 21 of 22 games, averaging 2.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in 13.1 minutes.

Because Purdue has faced lots of four-guard lineups, freshman Rapheal Davis has started recently in Lawson’s place, a spot also shared with redshirt freshman Donnie Hale.

“I understsand it,” Lawson said. “It’s like coach says, ‘Whatever it takes for Purdue to win.’ Then, he goes with that. If Donnie has a good game, and he wants to stick with that, them I am fine with that, or if anybody else is having a good game.

“I need to get more physical. I need to bring more hustle plays. I can still see myself taking some plays off. It’s about making the most of the minutes I get."
