Purdue gets a fourth running back, and it is a four-star commit from Louisville.
This past year Darrell Hazell had quite a bit of success at Kent State running the football with Dri Archer and Trayion Durham each rushing for more than 1,000 yards. The running back stable is once again fully stocked as Purdue has picked up its fourth running back in the class of 2013 with Louisville Trinity back Dalyn Dawkins.
Dawkins was hosted by Purdue this past weekend and committed just a day after Keith Byars II. He also joins Keyante Green and David Yancey in addition to returning backs Danny Anthrop, Akeem Hunt, and Brandon Cottom.
Dawkins is a three-star prospect according to ESPN and Yahoo, but a four-star according to Scout. He is the fourth recruit in the class of 2012 that is a 4-star by at least once service. Here are your highlights:
In 2012 Dawkins rushed for 1,478 yards and 25 touchdowns as Louisville Trinity not only went 14-0 and won Kentucky's largest class state champion, they were also rated No. 2 Nationally according to MaxPreps and won a mythical National Championship by some services. In 2012 Trinity was 13-1, won the 6A title again, and Dawkins had a slightly better year:
Dawkins (5-9, 180) was a dynamic player for the Class 6-A champion Shamrocks, rushing for 1479 yards and 18 touchdowns and catching 38 passes for 367 yards and five scores.
It remains to be seen if Dawkins, Green, Yancey, or Byars will see the field as true freshmen, but in Green and Dawkins you have guys that put up huge numbers for state championship teams. These guys are winners already and should bring a great attitude. If anything, coach Hazell will have options.
Welcome aboard, Dalyn!
