Two good halves

Finally our Lady Boilers basketball team has put together two good halves of basketball at Minnesota. So far the month of February has been one to just get past. Losses at home to Michigan and Iowa were bad but any loss to this year's IU team was a real head scratcher. Well, we fans can get caught up in hyperbole and think a whole season is lost on one game or stretch of games. However, the game announcers for the Minnesota game reminded us that Purdue had a bad stretch late in the Big Ten last season, only to put together 3 awesome performances to win the Big Ten Tournament. Hey, it could happen again that way this year. Although there are more good teams in the conference this year than most. Courtney Moses got back in the scoring groove in a big way and our whole team really executed and shot the ball well at Minnesota. That is not an easy place to play and their team is very good. Dee Dee did another fine job of defense following Rachel Banham all over the place. Our defense, especially in the second half, was what we have come to expect from a Purdue basketball team. After two home losses, we just need two home wins to finish the season and we would be going into the Big Ten Tournament on a roll again this year. We need to work hard to get our seeding in the NCAA tournament to a higher level. 20-7 is still a very good record and this team has shown that while they have inexplicable lapses on both sides of the ball, they also have a lot of team resillience to come back from adversity and play fantastic basketball. Chantel Poston should be able to up her contributions and our team has been keeping the turnovers to a manageable level. Yes our team can tend to live dangerously but also have shown a lot of poise down the stretch in games and this should bode well for the two remaining conference games on into tournament time.
