Hey H&R readers,
I hope you all are having a great holiday season so far. Final exams are over, and I feel super relaxed. So the reason I'm posting this is to get a read on how Boiler Nation feels about Coach Painter. In no way am I bashing him, because I do believe he is a good coach. However, I, like many others, am really frustrated by how this team is currently performing, and I do believe that some blame has to be put on the coach.
Anyone watching that game against Butler last night could notice how inconsistent we were, and that seems to be the theme of the season so far. When the offense would stand around the perimeter dribbling the ball, I could immediately tell that they didn't know what play they were supposed to run, and TJ would end up taking one of his signature floaters. That's fun and all, but floaters aren't going to win games, especially not in Big Ten play.
Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way, but shouldn't that be Painter's job to draw up a REAL play? I'm lost as to how the team can start off so strong, and then suddenly look so unprepared, as if they thought there were only 20 minute's in a basketball game. Now, I understand that we have some die-hard CMP fans on this blog who will stand behind him with a fiery intensity, ready to scorch any fan who has the slightest criticism of his ways. For those who don't support him, I'm posting a poll so that you can have an anonymous way of posting your true opinion.
Personally, I think that he should have some more time to develop these players, and coach a stunning 2014 class. So i say 2 more seasons, not including this one of course. If there isn't improvement by then, I think we can all agree it's time to go shopping. But what do I know, I'm just bored and procrastinating packing.
