As what may be the only time the Boilers will play in Lucas Oil Stadium in the near future, the Purdue and ND athletics departments have been talking about moving the game from South Bend to Indianapolis, and also make it the 'Shamrock Series' game.
From the Chicago Tribune:
Notre Dame's annual "Shamrock Series" contest -- its home game played away from home -- may take it just down the road in 2014.
The Irish appear to be finalizing an agreement to take its scheduled meeting with Purdue to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, home of the NFL's Colts. Presumably, that would serve as the Shamrock Series contest for next fall.
"Close but not yet done," a Notre Dame spokesman said in an email Friday.
That echoed the sentiment that Purdue athletic director Morgan Burke first espoused earlier in the day, telling GoldandBlack.com that the schools were moving in that direction.
"We're working on (it)," Burke told the site. "I think we're close."
