Sam Ostarello. What a season. If she is not selected first team all Big Ten this year, the thing is rigged. Another monster game when our top two scorers just couldn't put the ball in the basket. 14 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block. Also some shots altered. And a little point guard thrown in. The play of the game IMO was Sam O dribbling the length of the court, missing a layup, then getting her own rebound and put back. OK, Mr. Critical you can have your say. But we heard IU plays gritty defense. Well ours was grittier (is that a word?). Last game, Spartans are so physical. We were more physical. We simply find a way to win. How do teams scout Purdue? Shut down our top 2 scorers? No problem, others will pick it up such as April Wilson and Taylor Manuel. Another solid performance from KK. And fouls are the only way to keep Sam O from a big stat suffing game. Yes there were too many turnovers in the first half, but that was cleaned up after the half. Bring on Penn State. Yes we have a good chance we will lose on their court. But we could win. I remember the B10 tournament last year. No way will we beat Penn State and the queen of women's BB Maggie Lucas. Well we shut down Maggie Lucas and Brittany Rayburn shot it right over her and Nikki Greene for the winning bucket. Hopefully Chantel Poston will be back to her early season form after her surgery come tournament time. We are a solid 3 seed right now if the NCAA bracket came out now. Our RPI is 10th nationally. The Big Ten as a conference RPI is 2nd. We're 18-3. It is a fun team to watch, even if we do shoot ourselves in the foot sometimes then find some way to overcome it.
