Both recent quotes from Painter. Not sure whether he's just trying to motivate guys are what, but these statements don't give me much confidence in what's going on behind closed doors. Especially the "keep their mouths shut" and "it's not close" and "beg guys to play harder" bits. Kind of harsh. Sounds like he's not happy with the behavior of a number of the players on the team.
"We're 8-8, so no one can be really tough," Painter said Monday. "We've got guys that talk tough, but guys that are tough keep their mouths shut. Tough guys make free throws."
"Travis Carroll comes in and simply does his job. He gives us his best effort every single day. Travis Carroll gives a better effort than any big guy we have, and it's not close, but Hammons has been the most productive. In terms of big guys, we have some numbers, but we can't sit here and wait all season and beg guys to play harder."
