Breaking News: Drew Brees signs historic new contract with New Orleans Saints

After a months-long struggle between Drew and the Saints organization over a new, long-term contract that would better reflect the talents of the Super Bowl winning Quarterback, Breesus and New Orleans have agreed to a massive 5 year, $100 million deal ($60 million of which is guaranteed). The new contract now makes Brees the proud owner of the richest contract in NFL history. The deal is quite front loaded--Drew is set to earn 40 million of the total 100 million in 2012 alone and 55 million out of the guaranteed 60 million before 2014. Another thing to note is that the Saints will have very narrow windows to opt out of the remainder of Brees' contract during both of the 2013 and 2014 offseasons. And finally, I should make it clear that Drew actually still has yet to undergo a physical and sign the new deal, but a new contract has been finalized and it is certainly wonderful to see the Purdue giant achieve more historic heights in his amazing NFL career. Boiler Up!
