And so it is finally here. our first round game against the Gaels will see our Boilermakers put a 13-game first round winning streak on the line against an excellent mid-major in a virtual dead even game. With Michigan and Michigan State big favorites tonight conference pride is also on the line, as we don't want to be the team that prevents a 6-0 opening round for the Big Ten.
I am cautiously optimistic, mostly because the Robbie Hummel story has to have a better end than a quiet opening loss in the NCAA Tournament to a mid-major from across the country, right?
The good news: We've had a week to prepare, we're rested, and this is not an impossible opponent to beat. The bad news: they have a lot of size and are difficult to defend on the perimeter. I have no idea what to think, but I refuse to go down quietly.
My goal since January has been to keep this NCAA first round win streak alive, then we'll see what happens afterwards. Dream it, Do it, Boilers.
