Painter going after Keita Bates Diop Today

PrintThe normal ILL. recruit will be in the Arena tonight. Painter must be pretty sure of the out come to want him there. I expect Painter will offer him tonight with hopes of getting a verbal. Said to be a Illini lean. If we get him Kendall Stephens may play a role in it as they both play AAU for the Wolves. Also on that AAU team is 2015 recruit Jordan Ash . Diop grew from 6'0 to 6'7 in a year and is said to have a 7'1 wingspan. His outside shot compares to Stephens that is saying alot. I doubt he will comit as everything I have read say's he enjoys all the visits and the whole recruiting game. And he is a life long Illini fan. Also Davis and Simpson will be at the game. The two of them have been tweeting about it like crazy . If Matty gets the verbal will he stick to it ? Funny how Willis has changed the Verbal to a yes maybe . I am so pumped for the game tonight may get there at 6.

I have been told Painter is hoping for a verbal today. I was saying is a verbal anything now since decommits happen
Seems like Painter is going after
larger guards/wings. He has historically ran with 6’0" to 6’3" guards/wings and now he has signed/recruited 6’5" to 6’7" players at the same positions. Perhaps one of his strategies to rebounding.

We have so many 6’0 to 6’3 guard and we consistently get out-rebounded.

When a player is invited
They don’t care about the outcome of the game. They care about the atmosphere that they see. The landscape of college bball changes so much year to year that someone as far away as Diop doesn’t care who wins because he isn’t playing in the game.
