Hamilton Southeastern Vs. North Central: Let's Make It An Open Thread

In all my years of watching Indiana High School basketball I have never seen a sectional as loaded as this year's Noblesville sectional. int he final non-class state poll It includes the No. 1, No. 3, and No. 5 teams. The other four teams all have winning records and are capable of pulling an upset. For example, Noblesville beat Carmel this year, Fishers played HSE to a three point game, and North Central struggled with Fishers as well.

So this will be a good one, and it all begins tonight when Hamilton Southeastern and North Central collide. No less than four big Ten players will be on the floor with Gary Harris, Ronnie Johnson, Zak Irvin, and Patrick Ingram.

The game will be carried live on state-wide TV via Hometown Sports, and can be found via webstream right here. Let's make it an Open Thread as Ronnie Johnson begins a run toward a state championship. The game tips at 7pm.

Watch live streaming video from hometownsportsindiana at livestream.com

Love this exchange

G Lewis Jackson is confident that teammate Robbie Hummel’s number 4 jersey will be raised to the Mackey Arena rafters. “He’s humble about it,” Jackson said. “He’s done great things. He’s going down as one of the greatest players to play here.” Hummel’s response: “I think Lewis may be a bit biased,” he joked.

NC choked it away

Was in control up two and fouled Harris with 13 seconds left 80 feet from the basket. They then turned it over

TMill is right, NC choked it away

went away from the dump it to Lathum down low game plan

Not RJ's fault tonight

He should have had the ball on the closing possessions and didn’t have it.

fault or not

that is no way to end your high school career… not on complete bull shit

it was a great game

…for the most part it was played well with some amazing talent. Its very rare to see a HS game with this much talent and a packed house with a ton of energy.

So any thoughts about Sunday.

I Know we need to take care of business tomorrow night, but what do you think are our chances of taking one at ass hall?

One game at a time.

by BoilerColt on Feb 28, 2012 8:48 PM EST reply actions

Very very slim

we will have to play 2 times better than saturday and hope we can stop there terrific 3 point shooting at home…..pains me to say that

by BoilermakerAustin on Feb 28, 2012 8:55 PM EST up reply actions

IU salting it away

Much as it pisses me off, their shooting this season has just been phenomenal.

by coach_r on Feb 28, 2012 8:49 PM EST reply actions

I hope nobody is blaming Ronnie.

The last time he touched the ball was on a clutch rebound. He did everything right and didn’t have the ball at the end.

by Jackson Brunner on Feb 28, 2012 8:52 PM EST reply actions

I don't blame ronnie in the slightest

but didn’t he miss the front end of a 1-and-1 after the big rebound?

by oser1122 on Feb 28, 2012 8:55 PM EST up reply actions

He did

The dumb play was fouling Harris up 2 80 feet from the basket. They handed them the tie

I don't think you can blame him...

but you have to acknowledge that Gary Harris showed why he’s more touted than RJ

So. I'm acknowledging that Gary showed up.

and RJ et. al will have to be ready to play him next year… RJ has time to get his game better now…

Expect CMP to be really pushing the freshmen hard next season.

That will be a team that gets better deeper in. Baby Boilers 2.0

by Jackson Brunner on Feb 28, 2012 9:10 PM EST up reply actions

we'll see.

Still think that, TJ, AJ, Lawson, & Carroll are more pivotal than people think…. Baby Boilers 1.0 had 2-3 years of players helping them get better… I don’t see that with this incoming bunch…. sorry.

To your call once more we rally...

by H Dot Jones on Feb 28, 2012 9:13 PM EST up reply actions

The Baby Boilers had a couple Sophomores.

The Juniors and Seniors were not much help. There is more talent and experience next year for the freshman class to play with than when the 07 class came in.

by herby20 on Feb 29, 2012 12:14 AM EST up reply actions

eh yes & no

kramer & grant were pivotal, yes. But calasan, for all of his errant 3 point shooting, had a decent hook move that relieved some pressure to not be totally perimeter dependent until JJ developed in the upcoming years. Green was rather flawed w his jumper but he had length to play decent D as well and crash boards consistently. To think that Hammons & Simpson are going to give Purdue Zeller-like numbers next year is optimistic. Carroll and Lawson will have to improve their games more to add more depth to the post. In the same respect Terone & AJ. Need to be better leaders. Along w Byrd, this is their team now….Can they lead??

if we can do that i think we can pull it off, if they light it up i am not so sure.

When do you think the last time

both teams in the national championship game failed to make the tourney the next year happened? It very well could this year.

by clarkaj24 on Feb 29, 2012 7:55 AM EST up reply actions

I honestly don't know.

It would be interesting to find out.

by herby20 on Feb 29, 2012 9:36 AM EST up reply actions

Well I found that quickly.

The national title game that the two teams played in was also a hell of a lot better than that travesty last year. It was the 1980 season following he championship game between……

The Indiana State Sycamores lead by Larry Bird and the Michigan State Spartans lead by Magic Johnson.

by herby20 on Feb 29, 2012 9:40 AM EST up reply actions

A couple years ago

Florida and Ohio State both played each for the national title then they played for the NIT title the next year I believe.

by kyle1220 on Feb 29, 2012 9:43 AM EST up reply actions

Hmmm, appears right.

Apparently the site I found forgot that season a whole 4 years ago.

Uconn is a dumpster fire right now

But they’ll get into the tourney cause ZOMG BIG EAST BEST CONFERENCE EVAR!!!

And also ZOMG MOAR TEAMS IN TOUREY = GOOD!

Wait…..Northwestern? Seriously?
