Biggest Game of the Season?
How many "Biggest Game of the Season" scenarios has this team managed? If you're anything like myself, the match-up this Wednesday against Nebraska is the 15th game in a row that takes on the title of "Biggest Game of the Season." The past couple of years we have been spoiled as Boiler fans (JJ and E'twaun), but everyone already knows that. At the same time, the past couple of years we have been screwed as Boiler fans (Rob's two injuries). This season has been right on track at times, to ass-backwards at times. Hell, we've seen both sides of this team in the same game 3 different times! But Wednesday's game really feels like the end-all-be-all of the season IMO. No more Barlow, Byrd comes back (probably to the starting lineup), and the pressure to make the more preferred post season has reached its peak. This NEW team, in a way, is starting a new mission. A 4 game season, which includes 2 must win home games, coupled nicely with 2 challenging road games against teams that would give us our first win against a ranked team this season. It's time for the seniors to step up as the leaders of this team, and its time for everyone to begin playing as one unit (as T-Mill said). It's time to be a TEAM again, and it's time to play with confidence in ourselves, but more importantly, our teammates. I know a lot of people like to look forward to the post-season, which I am guilty of, but right now our focus has to be on Wednesday. Is it the biggest game of the season? Tell me what you think. I think it is, because a win here solidifies the fact that we are still a TEAM and adversity can't and won't break us apart at such a critical time during the season. But more importantly, I think this is the biggest game of the season because a loss puts us exactly where this team has no excuse to be: Back at square one.

when we beat the Illini the
First time were they not ranked? I thought they were ranked liked 23rd or something like that?? Just wondering.
unfortunately not
The week before they were ranked 25(AP)/24(ESPN), but the week of our game they were ranked 27th by both. We are currently the only B10 team that hasn’t beaten a ranked opponent.
Temple
Temple is now ranked 21st in the polls and we beat them which is good news so there is a ranked team we beat.
Only B1G team to not beat a ranked team (when they’re ranked). If this stays true I wonder how many teams from a major conference in the past have made the dance without having beat a ranked team…

We have 2 must wins
We must win home vs nebraska as well as penn state. If we win those we are in terrific position and it would seal us in if we beat either indiana or michigan on the road which i see as very possible to do.
it's a must win but
Not the “most important game of the year” by any means. It’s a game we should win without problems, barring a “random player” career high. Now if we lose Wednesday, THEN every game is "the biggest game of the year! ;)
