agreed

I only voted for AJ because we haven’t had anything like him possibly ever. He could have great potential. I hope he turns out to be Brad Miller-esqe or better. I was hard not to vote for Davis because I think he’ll have the biggest impact from day 1 and probably the whole time.

Rapheal

AJ may be the best of the bunch by the time he leaves college but I think Davis has the greatest chance of being an impact player next year. There is just something about Davis that I love. He has a toughness and grit that not a lot of players have.

Yes

I did but almost picked Ronnie but went Jay.

He would have picked Bryson

Given the option.

Maybe Brenton can...

walk-on and be the next Purdue Pete?

Excited for all of them considering the different games they bring,

but I voted A. J. I can’t wait to have a serious post presence. 7’ 275 dudes simply don’t get pushed around.

Look at how Green and Sullinger have changed their bodies...

Put AJ on the Steve Scheffler weightlifting program, change that baby fat into muscle and the dude will be a beast.

by bigchief5 on Feb 20, 2012 3:44 PM EST up reply actions

Hate to always bring up the same guy

But where has this transformation been in anyone. The person I could see it in most was probably Carroll. I really do think if he gets slimmer and more toned it would improve his game. Also, I really haven’t seen bodies change all that much. Look at different guys and let me know whose body has changed. I’m not issuing that as a challenge but more as there is none that come to mind immediately. Maybe Rob but he was recovering from two knee injuries so…

by TXBoiler on Feb 20, 2012 11:45 PM EST up reply actions

Are you serious?

Sullinger has lost tons of weight. Same with Green, Derrick Nix, etc. All it requires is the player to get serious and dedicated about their workouts and meals.

by herby20 on Feb 21, 2012 1:03 AM EST up reply actions

I think he was only talking about our team

and I agree. TJ was already strong. AJ doesn’t look like he added much strength in his redshirt season.

by Boiler00 on Feb 21, 2012 9:24 AM EST up reply actions

+1

AJ will not be on the Brad Miller path. Brad was not a Center in HS, and grew like a weed in college. That gave us 3 years of awkward Brad Miller and one year of quality production as he finally learned how to play inside.

Hale

You could almost put hale in this vote and i believe he will be a big asset next year. I mean he will be 20 so his body should be developed and he can hit the outside shot as well as drive it to the hole. He is also extremely athletic and will help with rebounding. I for one can’t wait for the next few years. I think the Paint Crew should make shirts that say We’re Back…. Oh wait we never really left.

I voted for Ray

I’m a little skeptical about Hammons. He is on the best HS team in the country, but that team is led by their guards and in times when he was matched up against a big center or forward, he seemed to crap himself and get into early foul trouble.

What gives me confidence is the guys he will be able to develop against. We don’t have the best post players, but it’s more than JJ had to play against in practice and look at the level he was able to achieve.

Ray is, if I am not mistaken, the best scorer on his high school team that isn’t too shabby in its own right. He also seems to have this swagger and intensity that we severely lack this year.

at 7'0'' 260 lbs

Hammons already has the body for this conference. He’ll have growing pains for sure, but I can’t wait to see him develop.

by Jackson Brunner on Feb 21, 2012 8:06 AM EST up reply actions

Though I remember Matt Ten Dam

Hammons does have a bit more experience. Would love to finally have a huge center who does center-y stuff. I mean, Brad Miller was awesome, but Hammons could be something new.

Hopefully he doesn’t go all basketbawful when he gets to campus.

Voted RJ

think his passing abilities will help him force himself into a starting position by conference play. Think he’ll be the best player of the class when all is said and done.

I think he could be excited about the future of the B1G.

And how flat-out amazing its gonna be for years and years to come. So much talent.

Boiler Up! Hammer Down!

by JuJuan some Moore? on Feb 20, 2012 11:51 PM EST up reply actions

yes

that is what I meant. 1 in ~13,000 males in the state of Indiana between the ages of 18-64 (couldn’t find narrower ages in census data) is a DI basketball player. I want to keep that per capita reputation.

-Contributing Writer at The Crimson Quarry.

by JustAJ on Feb 21, 2012 7:57 AM EST up reply actions

Where did you get that stat?

That’s awesome. Do they really get that info in a census? That has to be the highest of any state, right?

by clarkaj24 on Feb 21, 2012 1:05 PM EST up reply actions

there are 154 DI basketball players from the state of Indiana

87 contribute more than 10% of their teams minutes. I just took those numbers and did the math.
