Darrell Hazell's first Purdue commit is a big one.
We can all use some good news after the basketball game, and this is some very good news. Coach Darrell Hazell has his first commitment under his watch, and it is a big one. Leroy Clark, a 5'10" 170 pound cornerback from Miami's Archbishop Carroll High School is going to be a Boilermaker.
ESPN rates Carroll as a 4-star pickup and the No. 37 player nationally at his position. Rivals rates him as a 3-star, but he has an impressive list of offers from Oklahoma, Miami, Florida State, and Alabama. Purdue was on him before coach Hope was fired, so let's consider this a parting gift from Danny.
Amazingly, Clark was highly touted despite his team going 0-10 this season and getting blown out in all but one game.
First, some highlights:
Then, an interview.
This is a very good pickup, especially since coach Hazell technically can't recruit for Purdue yet. For a team in limbo to get a four-star commit is big, and hopefully a sign of things to come.
Welcome to Purdue, young man.
