Why CMP is the right coach to get us to a Final Four / NC

Stay connected for news and updates

Take a look at the past performance of his teams in the tournament.

2007 lost to eventual National champion Florida in the round of 32 and played them tighter than anyone else in the tourney.

2008 lost to Xavier in the round of 32 who went on to the elite 8.

2009 lost to UCONN in the sweet 16 who went on to the Final Four

2010 lost to Duke in the sweet 16 with Hummel injured. Duke went on to win the NC.

2011 lost to VCU in the round of 32 who went on to the Final Four. Again Hummel was injured.

2012 lost to Kansas in a tight game that was ours until the final few minutes. Kansas goes on to lose in the NC game.

Since CMP has taken over, we have made the tourney each besides his first. We have always won our first round game. We have not lost to anything less than an Elite 8 team, and that was only once. It has taken 1 elite 8 team, 2 final four teams, one NC contender, and 2 National Champions to knock us out. I think this shows CMP is getting theguys ready for the tourney and we are competing at the level required to make deep tourney runs. I think you'd be very hard pressed to find another team that has so consistently been such a tough out in the tourney. We just need to get over the hump. CMP has all the tools he needs to start bringing in the recruits to get us there, it is only a matter of time.
