After the months of talk about Simpson redshirting, it seems like that won't be the case. Coach Painter made it clear in his post-game presser after the Newberry game that "we're not going to redshirt Jay Simpson". As reasoning, Painter cited that Simpson has a ton of ability and can contribute immediately.

I think that Painter knows best and we ought to trust him on this. Hopefully Jay gets his weight down and gets help with the asthma problems he has. IMO Simpson is really talented and will be a great player for Purdue.
