Sounds like Keita Bates-Diop's grandfather, Richard Bates, passed away recently in Fort Wayne. I've attached his obituary and sounds like he was quite a guy and was a big part of his communities in Des Moines and Fort Wayne. The article talks about his love for his grandchildren, with Keita being one of them. Keita Bates-Diop, to me, seems like a real special kid, not only as a gifted basketball player but as an individual. I believe if Purdue was fortunate enough to get his commitment, he will be one of the truly Boilermaker greats.
My sympathies to Keita and the entire Bates family.
