Some of the festivities leading up to the Purdue game
The theme for this year's homecoming was "Once Upon a Homecoming" and focused on famous fairy tales that we knew growing up as a child, and are now being relived through Hollywood. I never really took part in the Homecoming activities until this year as a Mortar Board member. Along with the Reamers, Mortar Board members still paint senior cords to wear during homecoming. Mine featured organizations like PUMA (meteorology), PCS (Purdue Catholics), as well as the fact that I was a "Spirit Maker" back in March this year. I didn't draw the H&R logo mostly because I can't draw and so my cords just mostly had the acronyms and words of my organizations (I was going to include it in my video, but I messed up the recording and didn't get a chance to re-film it.). I'm also having trouble uploading pictures so I will post a picture of my cords later.
Other highlights included the Homecoming Parade, which features the marching band and various organizations around Purdue and the Lafayette community, which ended with a float from Follet's honoring Neil Armstrong (as seen in the video). The parade led up to Mackey Arena for the pep rally and tipoff before kickoff event. In the morning, Stadium Mall was filled with tents with various clubs and programs, which featured the musical stage for various PMO groups as well as the marching band. All of this ended as acting President, Tim Sands, led the band to Ross-Ade for the game.
One interesting thing though was the entrance for the football team as you can see in the video. They got some sort of pyrotechnics for the team as they entered the field. All I have to say is that the AD is willing to spend money on that but not get permanent lights?
