By the end of the night I hope to be in first place in the Big Ten. We will stay there tied with at least Michigan State with a win tonight, and Michigan can join us if they beat Indiana. Sure, it is still early, but as long as we take care of our business we make it hard for other teams to catch us.
We cannot overestimate the value of a few breaks in our schedule, either. We only play Ohio State once, so if we win that game we have a huge advantage in the race. Wisconsin isn't likely to lose three at home, so only playing them once, in Mackey Arena, is an even bigger break. Minnesot is a dangerous team, so playing them only once is an advantage, especially if we beat them on the Demon Wood of Xibalba.
The rest is about taking care of your business, and that is what we must do tonight. It's time to move to 3-0 in the Big Ten and let everyone chase us for awhile.

How Is DJ the Only One Willing To Work?
EVERYONE but him looked at least a full step slow on D – at one point they dribbled around us, literally in an around us, with several guys chasing with no consideration for the 3 open Penn State players. It was the worst collegiate defense I have ever seen – and I’ve watched MAC women’s games. I don’t know what the excuse was, maybe they didn’t show up mentally, maybe they got off on their food schedules and lacked energy, whatever. The point is that you can have off nights You can play badly. But to not try, to not give effort, whether up by 20 or down by 20, is the antithesis of what it used to mean to play for Purdue. I’d trade our future top 10 recruiting classes for a DJ Bryd at every position (adjusting for height, of course).

Next year is going to be painful too. We are realistically a couple years out from being relevant again in the big 10. If we do not want to go through this again, we better hope CMP keeps bringing top 10-15 recruiting classes every year. This is what happens when you take a couple years off
