It's time to put the past behind us, and it's time to all be friends again. We've got a huge game coming tomorrow night when the Wolverines visit Mackey. Fact of the matter is, calling this a huge game is and understatement. It is as close to a must win as you can get, and IMO, if we find ourselves on the losing end tomorrow, it makes the game @NW a must win for this team. But let's not focus on the negative outcome, let's just focus on what the Boilers need to do to put a check in the win column.
1. Robbie, we love you. But for the love of all things old gold and black please make one field goal at the very least. There would be no better game for Robbie to return and shoot the lights out of Mackey Arena. This team deserves a great game from their senior captain, but most of all Robbie deserves it. Treat yourself to a great game Rob!
2. Continue to fight the good fight on the boards. I don't know if our lack of size is making our opponents get lazy on the glass, but our hustle has begun to pay off. Keep up the good work, and J-Law, I want to see some monster rebounds that scare the be-jesus out of me even though I'm hundreds of miles away.
3. Defense. Mackey was built on it, and Purdue Basketball teams have been known to perfect it like the beautiful art that it is. The problem is, good team defense begins with great individual defensive efforts, and we haven't had a player step up and give us an amazing individual effort game in and game out. How many charges has this team taken in conference play this year? I want to see 3 tomorrow.
4. Get the ball down low. I don't care if we throw it right back outside, but we've got to show teams some new looks. Maybe our post play isn't pretty (many would argue that it doesn't even exist), but we've got to feed our bigs from the outside and at least give them a chance to improve their confidence and help this team score more points in the paint.
We're coming off a bad loss, but the beautiful thing about the regular season is that there is always another game around the corner. We've turned that corner and have found ourselves standing face-to-face with a ranked team in our backyard. How will we respond? KEEP IT POSITIVE, HAIL PURDUE!!!
