Purdue women team beat Illinois 64-63 on buzzer-beating 3-pt shot

What a game! We started hot (leading 12-1) and Ill didn't have a first lead until 8:49 left to play, but the game is really tight for the most part (we led by 4 at the half, and that's the largest lead by either team in the 2nd half). After we gave up the lead, it seems like momentum is on Illinois' side as we keep turning the ball over and over (25 TOs total). And just when we finally get back the lead on a Rayburn's jumper, we got the ball back with less than a minute to play, we turned it over under their full-court pressure that led to two FTs. After another Purdue's missed basket, Ill made 1 of 2 FTs with 7 seconds left, and despite initially mishandling the ball, Courtney Moses nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to win the game for us.

Frankly though, except for the first 5 mins, we are pretty awful. We keep turning the balls over. KK Houser is just too careless with the ball with 7 TOs to the point that I don't even trust her with the bball. As a great FT shooter (85%), Courtney Moses uncharacteristically missed 2 FTs with 2:32 left when we were down 1. Frankly, I think Illinois play harder than us and if they win the game I wouldn't be overly upset.

B1G is not a strong conf with only 4 ranked teams (and only O$U in the Top 15). We are one the ranked teams at #20 and with a surprise loss from PSU (which was ranked higher than us), we have a chance to compete for the title despite losing one of our best players Drey Mingo with torn ACL. But we really need to fix our TO problem. And just like the men's team, our interior game is non-existent and we keep getting out-rebounded. So lots of work to do, but at least a win is a win.
