His HS Coach says he's very sure of where he wants to go

thus I don’t think there is any decision left.
Painter vs Calipari
Calipari is unethical.
Painter is ethical.
Honestly if you consider yourself a 4 year college student athlete ( I dont know if willis does or not) I don’t see how you can take on the risk of joining a program like Kentucky. universally, how long before the NCAA catches up with KY? As a student are you willing to risk your potential career for that? I could understand 1 and dones… but is willis a one and done?
It doesn't matter whether Willis is a one-and-done
is willis a one and done
It matters whether HE thinks he is a one-and-done or two-and-done.
As I state elsewhere
It is just bad interviewing when you stop after his “head coach” answer. It is an answer that gives no insights. What else would a recruit say other than head coach being the biggest factor, cheerleader? Any decent interviewer will follow up with, “What’s your ideal head coach?” or “What do you look for in a head coach?”
Granted, Willis’ answers are just as vague as one can get. “I like them all…I can’t decide…I don’t know when…I need to develop every aspect…Head Coach.”
Who put on this interview?
Why would someone ask “who is at the top of your list?” and why would a recruit answer that with a straightforward answer?

Whether he answers or not is one thing
As an interviewer, your job is to ask the questions that everyone is interested in, and not accept those overly vague answers. It’s like asking politicians questions. You know you are not gonna get a straight answer from them, but at the minimum you should relentlessly (and professionally) ask pointed questions. That’s what make a good interviewer. Otherwise, I can almost make up the interview myself and still sound 99.9% like the real one.
Sounds like a slap to Painter's face
if he chooses UK. Not only did he not choose your team, but he basically said you are not as good of a coach as Cal. Good thing he’s just a 17 year old kid. Another question: A lot of people are talking about the possibility of him being a 1 and done. Does anyone think that his age (he’s young) would keep him from going to the NBA so quickly?
Not necessarily
If he goes to IU, that’s a slap to Painter’s face after all the “pressure from peers to stay in-state” talk. But re: the head coach thing, that answer really means nothing. It could well be that he means a head coach he finds compatible with, or a head coach whose philosophy he shares. It doesn’t necessarily mean one is “better” than the other. And even objectively, Cal is “better” than CMP in certain areas, for example, more experience, more NBA connection, and more FF appearance (as long as the one from last year still stands).
