Quick And Dirty Iowa Preview, WIth Boilermakings!
I need to do a link dump today, but I also need to do an Iowa preview, so it is time for a double-shock! The Hawkeyes are still fresh in our mminds from the conference opener three weeks ago. Since then, they have sprung upsets over Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan. This is a dangerous team we need to take seriously. We're playing at home, but out invincibility was broken last week against a team we historically dominate in Mackey like no other.
I don't know what to think, except we haven't dropped two in a row all season and we tend to look pretty good in the games after losses. It's simplistic, but this feels like a classic, "do whatever is necessary and get the win," game. As far as I am concerned, Iowa can go an pillage the rest of the Big Ten for upsets after we secure our sweep over them. I will say this, however: Chris Kramer is back in Indiana this week, and hopefully he will be back in the building since we started the 26 game winning streak in his final game at Mackey.

This Iowa game is going to be a battle
Aaron White and Roy D Marble are the two that concern me the most. White has been coming off the bench and has been playing the DJ Byrd role for Iowa. A good start will be key for the Boilers. Without that early hole against Wiscy, the streak would still be in-tact.

I hope LewJack is used sparing/responsibly in this game
In other news, Gunner Kiel can’t make a decision.

Anyone watched Iowa's upsets?
Are they really playing THAT much better or have they been lucky in facing those teams on off nights? My suspicion is the former, but just thought I’d ask.
Also, I’d bet we’ll get an opportunity to test our skills against a zone again tonight. I’m trying not to cringe while I type that.

It has really been a combo if you ask me
The upsets have featured poor outside shooting nights for the opposing team. How much of that can be attributed to Iowa’s defense and how much can be attributed to cold shooting nights is a point of debate. I think that Iowa’s offense is really coming around to the point that teams need to score it well against us, if the Iowa D shows up or you have a cold shooting night you will be in for a fight.

oh yeah

Iowa has looked improved
but not THAT improved. They’re still a year away from being a good team. They’re defense is helping foster poor shooting nights but teams are also just plain missing shots that should be gimmes as well.

Confidence not there
I feel were going to force 3’s early and struggle to find a good shot and get behind early like the wisconsin game. White and basabe i feel will expoit r weak inside play and we end up losing.
wow
don’t bother trying to read the comments on the KY blog for that Willis post. not a coherent thought in the whole lot. Shabazz this, Coach K that, Can’t spell Louisville without an L….. none of it has anything to do with Willis. They either assume it’s a foregone conclusion, or they’re too numb to recruiting top talent to care.

Too numb
Willis is a low ranking recruit for them

damn, Boiled Sports is reporting that Pegrem is leaving.
That sucks. I liked him. The only comfort is that we are deep at RB.
Kramer will be there, as will I
I’m friends with him on Facebook and he replied to someone’s post on his wall that he will indeed be at the game.
Got 10th row seats at half court with my dad. He’s an Iowa grad, me a Purdue one. I look forward to talking shit to him the whole night.

The teams hustle and effort
From the opening tip should be an indicator of how CMP has come along with getting these guys fired up for such a game. Easier opponent, at home, etc. The effort wasn’t there against PSU, some say not against Wisky though I disagree in that game. For the most part we have put it on the coach to get these kids ready to play from an attitude standpoint so let’s see how they come out tonight. No reason we can’t put them in an early hole and pile it on to redeem our home court!
