1 Day To Purdue Football: Normondo Harris
Finally, we're here at the end of the countdown. It's college colors today, so I expect everyone out there to be wearing the proper colors (and lettin' the cop killas fly! j/k). In about 30 hours we'll either feel a whole lot better about the 2011 football team or our fears will be confirmed. At least we'll know.
Normando Harris - So.
Hometown: Miami, FL (Monsignor Pace HS)
Safety
6'1", 180 pounds
2011 Projection: reserve at cornerback
Normondo Harris has moved all over the place within the past year. As a true freshman last year he appeared in six games, starting two, and he notched 11 tackles with a forced fumble. He moved to wide receiver in the spring, then back to defensive back this fall. Now he is expected to be a top reserve at corner behind Ricardo Allen and Josh Johnson.
As I wrote back in January 2010 when he committed, he comes from a high school that is used to winning. He played in the 2009 season with Stephen Morris, who received a scholarship from the hometown Hurricanes and will start Monday night against Maryland. He was one of Morris' top targets with 10 catches for 163 yards and four touchdowns as a senior.
I think Harris will be a fine addition to our secondary this year as a nickel back. He'll likely split time with Charlton Williams, but he does give us incredible depth at the position.
