Some 40 yard dash times from Purdue's football practice
Guess the new strength and conditioning coach has got them running extremely fast. Here is a blub from Shavers
"Carlisle trained us from the ankles up," Shavers said. "It was pretty crazy. I could feel myself changing in my running style and how I ran."
Average 40 yard times:
Ricardo Allen = 4.27 (average of 4.26 and 4.28)
Rob Henry = 4.31
Antavian Edison = 4.31
Justin Siller = 4.5
Raheem Mostert = sub-4.4
Gary Bush = 4.3
Akeem Shavers = 4.38
Ralph Bolden = 4.45
Joe Holland = 4.47

Great
Hope we can get them on the open field and run crazy!
Skeptical
I doubt any of these guys would post these times when being timed by an NFL scout. But it does show who the fastest player on the team is.
more detail
Duane Carlisle, who ran one of two stopwatches that day, taking the average to record official times.
Hand times
I know NFL teams hand time them as well but maybe the times they post publicly are electronic. In any case, 4.4-4.5 is an average speed for an NFL receiver so I’d keep that in mind when looking at these times.
Field Speed
I wonder how this straight line track speed translates to field speed. Jerry Rice was never a great 40 guy but when he got on the field he seemed like one of the faster guys.
Ignorance can be fixed. Stupidity is forever.
Grass or Track - We Gots to Know
This note says the times were taken during football practice – so I’m assuming that they were running on grass, right?
Were they running in shorts and cleats or full football dress (helmet/pads)?
"Life is hard. Wear a cup"

Why not?
Last year several of his teammates said he was the second fastest guy on the team behind Ross.
